Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United After Leading Abusive Songs About Coach Wilder

The striker has joined Sheffield United just seven months following leading disrespectful songs aimed at the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club since leaving Leeds, has agreed to a contract joining the second-tier strugglers until January. His seven-year spell at Elland Road concluded by mutual consent in August.

Among Bamford’s final notable acts while at Leeds included starting abusive chants regarding Chris Wilder during the club’s promotion celebrations in April. Now, the former England international will feature for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to rescue his beloved club out of the bottom places.

Past Conflict Involving the Striker and the Manager

Both men had a past before Leeds moved up back to the Premier League the previous campaign and United lost the promotion decider by Sunderland. Wilder described the forward as “a muppet” when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured automatic promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends & Moving Forward

All appears to have been put behind them with Sheffield United, the league's lowest scorers, urgently requiring of a boost in attack and Bamford hoping to resurrect his playing days.

The song about Wilder went viral in April. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Chris Wilder commented back then: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I have no issue whatsoever with that. I'm uncertain about the language from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and admired him calling me.

“We spent a short while and similarly I spoke to Daniel as well and we had a half-hour chat together and he is a great person, a class act. When I was playing we used to dish it out and take it and that is part and parcel of football across all levels, including a Sunday morning. I have no problem at all. I'm fine with it and I said that to Patrick.”

Latest Playing Struggles

The forward featured in 18 games with Leeds United last season however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea & Boro striker has struggled with injury in recent years.
