Two Victims Revealed in the Providence Campus Shooting as Police Continue Manhunt for Killer.

Two students who died in the weekend's mass shooting at Brown University were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their killer carried on following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences online, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were hurt in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated late Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a raid at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Ongoing Concerns

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our city”.

The gunman began shooting inside a classroom in the engineering building on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a police source reported to the news agency.

Officers that raided the hotel recovered two firearms and two ammunition clips when the individual was arrested, according to reports.

The Wounded Victims

Among those wounded, one pupil was released from the hospital, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.
